Nihongi (1998)

The natural progression of the "spit-ups" I was showing earlier in the week.
Here I attempted to illustrate the "Nihongi" an esoteric shinto text, without any kind of cultural net for the interpretation. I was literally improvising everything except the words that I picked out.
No pencil underdrawing, just ballpoint pen, instant coffee and stubbornness.
I present it here for your amusement.
There was no part 2.

Barbarian of Lemuria panel

So it's a little bit of a "race-to-the-finish" between 2 Patreon projects for my next comic installment. Ive been working on "Barbarian of Lemuria." for a time in between Chapter 2 of Dangertide.

Piece of a painting 1995 - 2005

I can't remember when this last layer was added.

It about 81/2 x 11 broken Masonite. Basically a a detail of a much bigger piece then reworked. I was saving it for a comic book cover. If I get a chance I may use it for that still.

Oil paint.

WXF 40!

Been sitting on this page forever and ever. I even forgot it was inked, and before that I forgot it was penciled. Wrote it by thinking of text in between car rides.
Pretty happy it's done now I can get to some actiony stuff!

Ghost Shield page Test

Not a serious endeavor at this point. Just playing out of and in my sketchbook. Really influenced by Jorge Gonzalez right now. Strongly encourage people to check out his Itunes Graphic Novel App "Dear Patagonia."

WXF 21 Published!

After almost a year in the making, I am very pleased to finally announce the latest WXF "sunday" strip; #21!
Lets hope the others don't take nearly so long in coming! It was a serious journey from start to finish on this one. I may post that process in upcoming posts, but for now, I'm just breathing a sigh of relief! It doesn't seem like much, but this latest installment was the hardest so far and went through so many iterations before seeing the light of day. I hope the compression works out as it's a pretty big file, and that it's (fairly) readable. Here's to that! Enjoy!
