Oak twig Toned Ink Paper demonstration

In this drawing I made my own black paper by putting two washes down of black ink.

The paper is heavy# with a fairly noncommittal tooth.

Then I made a drawing using mostly white chalk and pastel in the negative space, building up the light slowly. I hit it with a black colored pencil in a couple spots right at the end.

The result was rougher than I guessed it would be, but I stuck with it and was happy I did.

Calendar picture.

Pretty wild commission I had just a couple days to do. Not a whole lot of time to think about it. Some parts are pretty fun. A couple months old now. I like the lizard-men.

Saying goodbye to old faces.

Sold these paintings. Selling a painting is like saying goodbye to an old friend. Especially some that are years and years old. You get used to having them around. It's a nice motivation to make more though.

A band poster from the early 90s

A friend just posted this image I made for his band in the early 90s. A crappy xerox copy. Early crazy stuff I was doing before college. My solution would be so much different today. It's always a reminder to reconcile time and circumstances to experience and lessons. Fun to see it again after so much time. I present it here for your amusement.
