life drawings 1-26-09

More life drawings. I do these alongside the students to give them space to work and so they can watch me work. I try and maintain a balance in my teaching between refining and experimentation or discovery. The student work this term is terrific. Myself, I'm warming up after a cold winter break and they are starting to look better. I still need to work right now most on the arms and seated proportions. I'm also pushing a little to refine my strokes, they are very fluid, but sometimes I feel at the expense of clarity. Feet and ankles are a constant challenge, but my legs and hips are feeling more natural than they have in a long time. We will see what happens when we get to the longer poses later in the term.
