The rainbow in the middle of this was actually coming through a prism in our window, very old school filter effects.

I am enjoying this palette of manganese blue, cadmium orange, sepia and a bit of emerald green and a tiny bit of color pencil. 

Drapery studies 5/6/2015

These are done with watersoluble pencil and a black colored pencil.

I am thinking about maintaining the gravity of the cloth in the straight lines of construction and not messing with the angles too much.

I enjoy drawing drapery there is a loose freedom in the logic of what you are looking at, the highlights are the crests of the topography and the shadows are the valleys.

Watercolor Fun

Happy Halloween! I have been busy teaching myself watercolor. This is mostly done through trial and error with complementing parts of studying work. A lot of experimenting is needed. I quickly realized that the type of paper you use has as much to do with the ease and frustration factor as anything. That's about as far as I've gotten. I'm still using a little crayola set and a little prang set of tin watercolors, but of course using the nicest brushes that I can afford to buy. I'm also doing more experimenting with water soluble media, pens, ink etc. Soon I plan on graduating to some better quality watercolors. I present these few results of my efforts here for your enjoyment.
