In 1998 I did a short series illustrating the opening stanzas of the Nihongi. All of the detailed drawing was done with ballpoint pen over extremely rough-to-none pencil layouts. The result: pretty lazy compositions that are are fun to look at for their over-compensation in distraction via the iconic symbols and dense cartoonic detail. I present it here for your amusement and diversion.
